Scripture is the foundation of our faith and the way the Word has been shared through the generations. Sunday at St. Peter’s is a punctuation mark, because our worship services themselves have readings built into them, and sermons usually stem from the Gospel reading appointed for that day.
That’s the start of conversations we enjoy, rather than the finish of a lesson, because in some ways we are exploring together. Scripture, tradition, and discernment run through our spiritual practice. Discernment means that together we come to know God’s will for us better and better as time goes on.
Every Sunday, St. Peter’s celebrates the sacrament of Holy Communion. It’s a church service that traces back to Christ’s instructions to, “Do this in remembrance of me.” It’s called Communion because it joins us together with each other and all that came before us.
